Dicy Marion Smith Sammons, 87, of McRae, died Wednesday, November 25, following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 3:00P.M., Saturday, November 28, at Towns Church of God with burial in Telfair Memorial Gardens. Visitation is Friday, 6:00-8:00P.M.
A native and lifelong resident of Telfair County, Ms. Sammons was the daughter of the late Grover Patrick Smith and the late Ruthie Bell Towns Smith. A homemaker for most of her life, she also worked at Roydon Wear and, along with her late husband, William Richard Sammons, owned and operated Smith’s Service Station in Towns. Ms. Sammons was a lifelong member of Towns Church of God where she also served as secretary and Sunday School teacher.
Survivors include a sister, Myrtice Guin, McRae; sister-in-law, Vauneta Smith, McRae; and several nieces and nephews.
