Sarah W. Steverson of Helena, died suddenly on Thursday, December 30. A funeral service will be held at 2:00P.M., Saturday, January 8, in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home, McRae, with burial at Steverson Family Cemetery. Visitation is Friday, January 7, 6:00-8:00P.M.
The daughter of the late Horace O. Williams and the late Edna Bellflower Williams of Dodge County, Mrs. Steverson was a resident of Telfair County since 1964. A retired pharmacy technician with 24 years of dedicated service, she was a wife, mother, sister, homemaker and a devoted follower of Jesus. Mrs. Steverson loved her fellow man and all of her family and friends. She was especially devoted to her church, Soul Cross Ministries of McRae. Mrs. Steverson was always willing to help anyone in need, including animals, no matter the circumstance. She would be described as a loving and gentle soul. Having great compassion and true Christian love for everyone she encountered, her children were proud to call her mother and her numerous grandchildren were proud to call her Granny. Mrs. Steverson was preceded in death by her husbands, Donald J. Durden and Jerry L. Steverson, Sr., to whom she was married for 35 years.
Survivors include her six children, Tara S. Rehman of Warner Robins, Sherry S. (Delma) Coleman of Centerville, Jeanie S. (Charles) Armstrong of Byron, Melvin R. (Dawn) Durden of Helena, Greg Durden of Helena and Jerry L. (Charlene) Steverson, Jr. of Eastman. Numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.
