Myrtle Elizabeth Hicks Brock, 83, of the McRae, died Sunday, February 23, following a lengthy illness. A funeral service will be held at 2:00P.M, Wednesday, February 26, in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home, McRae, with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday, 6:00-9:00P.M.
A native of Chatsworth, Ms. Brock was the daughter of the late Albert and Martha Hicks and the late Bert and Mossie Underwood. She was married to the late Herman William Brock. Ms. Brock was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She enjoyed the years she worked at Skinner’s Dairy. In her free time she enjoyed time with family, train watching, sewing, puzzles and the beautiful outdoors. Mrs. Brock was known to always have the door open for anyone who was hungry or needed to be loved. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Elizabeth Brock Fowler; great-grandson, John Douglas Hise; brothers-in-law, Beecher Brock, Preston Brock, Bradford Fowler, Stewart (Helen) Underwood, Charlie Underwood and J.P. (Ruth) Underwood, and a sister-n-law, Frances Burgess and Clemmie (Arvel) Pankey.
Survivors include her children, William A. Brock, Gary Allen Brock, Sr., Larry Douglas (Amanda) Brock, and Herman William (Cindy) Brock, Jr., all of McRae; Patricia Brock (Larry) Clairday of Folkston and Pamela Brock of Jacksonville, FL; brother, Tony (Jackie) Underwood of Calhoun; 21 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. Also surviving are brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Faye (John) Brown, Betty Joe (Jim) Crawford, Sybil Pentergrass, Ben Burgess, Winnie Brock, Eve Lee Brock, and Jimmie Underwood; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.
