Maude (Hart) McVey

Maude Hart McVey, 101, went to her heavenly home on December 29, 2021.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard S. McVey; son, Jerry H. McVey; parents, Silas M. and Lula C. Hart; son-in-law, Claude F. Vaughn; brother Emory L. Hart, Sr. and sisters, Annie Sandler and Minnie Denning.

Mrs. McVey was born in Telfair County, GA on July 19, 1920.  She was a homemaker and worked alongside her husband on their family farm.  Mrs. McVey also worked many years in the cafeteria at Workmore Elementary School, and in restaurants owned by Mr. and Mrs. Tom Drake.  She was a member of Soul Cross Ministries.

Survivors include her daughter, Judy (Wayne) Vickers of McRae, GA and daughter-in-law, Barbara McVey of Crestview, FL; grandchildren, Lori (Buddy) DeFore of Tarrytown, GA, Gary (Nita) Vickers of McRae, GA, Michael (Amber) McVey of Temple, GA, Jennifer (Derek) Bussard of Crestview, FL, Scott Thomas and Donald Smith of Pensacola, FL; great-grandchildren, Emmalee (Glen) Jones, Bobby Lee Landmesser, Rusty Williams, Chandler Vickers, Laila Vickers, Bobby Landmesser, Jr., Rex Williams, Jr., Christopher McMillan, Jacob (Jodee) McVey, Brandon McVey, Tyler Bussard, Kylie Bussard and Elaina Bussard; brothers-in-law, J.D., Denning and Frank McVey; sisters-in-law, Dorothy McVey, Elizabeth Kinnett and Betty J. (Bud) Smith.  Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 1, at 1:00P.M., at Vaughn Funeral Home, followed by a homegoing service at 2:00P.M. Burial will be at Telfair Memorial Gardens.  The Reverends Stanley Steverson, Julian Strom and Rusty Williams will officiate.  All in attendance are respectfully asked to follow CDC COVID-19 guidelines.

The family would like to thank special friend and caregiver, Tracy Hulett, and all of the staff at McRae Manor for their love and care of Mrs. McVey.
