Lena Yeomans Walden, 84, of Byron, died peacefully on Saturday, August 27, following a lengthy illness. A funeral service will be held at 11:00A.M., Monday, August 29, in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home, McRae, with burial at Clements Cemetery at Mt. Galilee Baptist Church. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service.
A native of Orlando, FL, Mrs. Walden was the daughter of the late William Leonard Yeomans and the late Sallie Ruth Watson Yeomans. Raised in Lumber City, GA, she was proud of her southern roots. Mrs. Walden was a salesperson with Sears for many years and was of Methodist faith. She loved everyone. After raising her own family she also raised a grandson. A mother to all, Mrs. Walden liked to show that love by feeding everyone. She was preceded in death by her husband, John L. Walden; daughter, Kathy Moore; granddaughter, Jessica Moore; brother and sisters, Julian Yeomans, Geraldine Jones, Annie Ruth Chapman and Dorothy Lake.
Survivors include her children, Thomas Keith (Tammy) Walden of Byron, Janet Walden Hatfield of Macon and Justin (Sarah) Moore of Warner Robins; brother and sister, Wayne (Mary Ellen) Yeomans of Marietta and Wanda (Charles) Marchant of Hazlehurst; grandchildren, Brooke Hatfield, Carly (Blake) Hatfield and Tyler Hatfield; and great-grandchildren, Zane Hasty, Alena Lumpkin and Lizzie Hatfield.
