John Morgan Burkhalter, Sr.

John Morgan Burkhalter, Sr., 80, of Milan, died Friday, September 18.  A funeral service will be held at 3:00P.M., Sunday, September 20, in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with burial at Friendship Church Cemetery.  Visitation is Saturday, 5:00-7:00P.M.

A native of Telfair, where he lived most of his life, Mr. Burkhalter was the son of the late John Henry Burkhalter and the late Eva Hulett Burkhalter.  He was a former foreman of a citrus grove before employment with the Telfair County Road Department.  Mr. Burkhalter was preceded in death by children, Billy Conner, Wayne Burkhalter and Gwen Kirkland.

Survivors include his wife, Gwendolyn "Regina" Burkhalter of Milan; children, Walter Conner of Polk County, FL, Maria Kersey of Hardy County, FL, Sherri Miller of Central City, PA, Michael Ray Burkhalter of Eastman, Lynn Burkhalter of Lyons and Cindy Burkhalter of Valdosta; brothers, Arthur Burkhalter of NC, Andrew Jackson and James Burkhalter, both of Polk County, FL; fifteen grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.
