Janie Elizabeth (Jeffries) Elton

Janie Elizabeth Jeffries Elton, 77, of Macon, died suddenly on Monday, January 9.  A funeral service will be held at 12:00P.M., Monday, January 23, in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home, followed by burial at the Telfair Memorial Gardens.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

A native of Telfair County, Beth was the daughter of the late John Harris Jeffries, Sr. and the late Janie Mae Williams Jeffries.  Along with her parents, Beth is preceded in death by her sister, Kathy Mullis, and her brothers, Robert Jeffries, James Jeffries, and John Jr. Jeffries.  She retired as an administrative assistant with Mercer University.  She spent most of her career days in the Registrar's Office, Stetson School of Business and Fine Arts Department. Beth found the most joy in cooking for her family, as she was great at it!  Her family each has their favorite dishes that ONLY mama could make.  She enjoyed working in the garden and had a green thumb with any plant or flower.  Beth also loved to travel and spent a culmination of over 100 days on cruise ships and many more trips on bus tours and family vacations.

Above all, Beth was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother.  Her grandchildren had a way of lighting up her face and she made a huge impact in both of their lives.  She also loved many cats and dogs throughout the years.  Beth had a way of greatly impacting the lives of all who knew her.  She will be deeply missed.

Survivors include her husband, Ricky Elton of Macon; children, Greg (Kay) Elton of Douglasville, Chris (Amy) Elton of Macon, Alicia (Chris) Mitchell of Wrightsville and Stacy Elton of Macon; brother, Gene (Wanda) Jeffries of Irmo, SC; and grandchildren, Sandy Elton and David Josiah Mitchell.
