Jimmy Williams, 75, passed away Monday, November 08, 2021, in the Coffee County Hospital in Douglas, GA. The funeral will be Thursday, November 11, 2021, at 1:00PM in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home. Visitation will be held 12:00PM prior to the services. Burial will follow in the Milan City Cemetery. The Rev. Pete Boyd and Rev. Alvin Lewis will officiate.
A native and lifelong resident of Telfair County, Mr. Williams was the son of the late Gilbert and Jeynelle Vaughn Williams. At a young age, he worked at Piggly Wiggly in McRae, and did farming in Milan. Jimmy was drafted into the Unites States Army (1966-1968) during the Vietnam War. He went to basic training at Fort Benning, GA and the United States Military Police School at Fort Dix, NJ. He served in 385th MP Battalion at Stuttgart, Germany. After returning from military service, he briefly attended South Georgia College and eventually became an auctioneer. Jimmy retired from Warner Robbins AFB with over 30 years and continued to farm in Milan. Jimmy loved his family and friends and traveling. He was a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Sandra Mullis Williams; sons Clay (Joann) Williams, Jr. of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, Mark Anthony (Christine) Williams stationed Fort Campbell, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Lydia (Ronnie) Williams of Ada, Oklahoma, Noel Williams, Marcus Williams, and Joshua Williams, all from Fort Campbell, Kentucky; sister-in law’s Wanda (Doyle) Knight, Brenda (Roger) Knight, Melissa (Tommy) Boyd, Trina Williams; special cousin Clemmie Lovvorn; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Pallbearers include Andy Bryant, Henry Williams, JJ Williams, Frank Foster, McClaw Moore, and Tony Knowles.
