Jack Benjamin Spires, 84, of McRae, died Sunday, January 29. A funeral service will be held at 3:00P.M., Wednesday, February 1, at Milan Church of God with burial at Bethlehem (Sandhill) United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday, 6:00-8:00P.M.
A native and lifelong resident of McRae, Mr. Spires was the son of the late Lester and Margie Scarborough Spires. He, along with his late wife, Velma Dover Spires, owned and operated the local Dairy Queen for nearly fifty years. Mr. Spires was a member of McRae Church of God.
Survivors include his children, Jackson (Connie) Spires of McRae, James (Debbie) Spires of Alamo and Hank (Tammy) Spires of Helena; brother, Steve (Renee) Spires of McRae; grandchildren, Casey (Ashley) Spires, Charlotte (Bernie) Horne, Margie (Jason) Joiner, Pam (Greg) Seabolt, Ashley Adams (Casey Wright), Jason Spires (Madison Seabolt), Kristy Spires and Benjamin Spires; great-grandchildren, Christian (Katie) Horne, Hunter Horne (Symph Shaw), Abigail Spires, O'Ryan Joiner, Kaden Adams, Katie Seabolt, Brittnie Adams, Landon Spires, Hartley Spires, Ashlan Long, Ryley Long, Aubreigh Grace Long, Caymen Wright and Westyn Wright; and great-great-grandchild, Oaklynn Horne. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
