David Moody Owens, Sr.

David Moody Owens, Sr., 85, of Augusta, died suddenly Saturday, February 4.  A funeral service will be held at 2:00P.M., Saturday, February 11, in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with interment at Oak Grove Cemetery.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Born and raised in McRae, Mr. Owens was the son of the late John Stoner Owens and the late Lavada Powell Owens.  He had worked with Stuckey’s in Yulee, FL and Wrens, GA, and J.M. Huber Corp, before becoming co-owner/operator of March Office Supply and Allsports Trophies.  Mr. Owens was a US. Navy veteran and was preceded in death by a nephew, Charles Aaron Owens.  He was a member of Hephzibah United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Mary Anna Fowler Owens of Augusta; children, Juliana Owens (Brian) Lewis of Augusta, David Moody (Linda) Owens, Jr. of North Augusta, SC, Lewis Henry Owens of Nashville, TN and Brad Owens of Augusta; brother, John Larry (Marlina) Owens of New Bern, NC; grandchildren, Adam (Heather) Lewis, Ben (Brooke) Lewis, Brianna (Jon) Minick and Austin (Darien) Owens, Mirabella Owens; seven great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Betty (Leroy) Ray of Helena; brother-in-law, Edwin Fowler of Macon; and many special nieces and nephews.
