David Franklin Floyd, Sr., 80, of McRae, died Monday, October 2, following an illness. A memorial service is being planned and will be announced on this page.
Mr. Floyd was the son of the late James Herman Floyd and the late Martha Willie Holmes Floyd. He was a carpenter and painter for most of his life, and a long-time member of Hartville Baptist Church where he was song leader for twelve years before joining the US Army. Mr. Floyd was preceded in death by sons, Dale Floyd and David Floyd, Jr.
Survivors include his daughters, Tonya (Mike) Sokoloff and Toye (Bennie) Benton; adopted son, Waylon (Starr) Spires; sister, Jane Floyd Evans; grandchildren, Sydney, Taylor, Koda, Brittany, Morgan, Chris, Jamie and Matt; and eight great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
