Cherry Vernita Redmond Tootle, 81, of Jacksonville, died Wednesday, September 16, following a lengthy illness. A funeral service will be held at 2:00P.M., Friday, September 18, at Blockhouse Baptist Church with burial to follow at Lakeview Memorial Gardens, Vidalia. Visitation is Thursday, 6:00-8:00P.M.
A native of Perry, Ms. Tootle was the last surviving of eight children of the late George Henry Redmond and the late Georgia Queen Redmond. She worked for many years at Harrianna Crippled Children's Home and with Cook & Co., before retirement. Ms. Tootle attended Blockhouse Baptist Church and was the wife of the late Carlton Jones and the late Gerald Tootle.
Survivors include her children, Julie Dopson, Cindy and Sambo Boone and Vickie and Randy Gould, all of Jacksonville; step-son, Shane and Rachel Tootle of Vidalia; nine grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
