Barbara Jean (McGhee) Gillis

Barbara Jean McGhee Gillis, 69, formerly of McRae, died Wednesday, August 26.  A private graveside funeral service was held at 2:00P.M. on Sunday, August 30, at Oak Grove Cemetery.

A native of Telfair County where she lived most of her life, Mrs. Gillis was the daughter of the late Grady McGhee, Sr. and the late Mary Rowland Poole.  The wife of the late Lee Malcolm Gillis, Sr., she will be remembered by many as a registered nurse with the Telfair Medical Group.  Mrs. Gillis was a member of McRae First Baptist Church but also attended Faith Baptist Church as long as her health allowed.

Survivors include her son, Lee (Lori) Gillis of Macon; brothers Grady (Judy) McGhee of McRae and Bobby McGhee of Hawkinsville; grandchildren, Lee Malcolm Gillis, III and Lucy Minton Gillis; and nieces and nephews, Jeff (Angelyn) McGhee, Jennifer (Randy) Warren, Robyn (David) Spires, Jana Williams and Matthew Gillis.
