Helena-William Chester ‘W.C.’ Wooten, 72, died Thursday, November 25. Funeral services will be at 2:00P.M., Sunday, November 28, in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with burial in the Helena Cemetery. Visitation is Saturday, 6:00-8:00P.M.
A native of Wheeler County, Mr. Wooten was the son of the late Chester Wooten and Treavy Sammons Dixon. Having worked most of his life in construction, he was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and was a member of Helena Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby M. Wooten; and brothers, Marvin Wooten and Joe Wooten.
Survivors include his children, Sheila (Robert) Herrington, Alamo, and Darrell Wooten, Helena; brother, Richard (Shirlene) Wooten, Hazlehurst; grandchildren, David (Dedra) Herrington, Dublin and Denise (Michael) Horton, McRae; and great-grandchildren, Emily Herrington, Katilynn Herrington, Aaron Ashley, Blake Bargeron, Cierra Bargeron and Dalton Horton.
