Wade Monroe Purvis, Sr., 70, of Alamo, died Friday, December 24. Funeral services will be held at 11:00A.M., Monday, December 27, in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home, McRae, with burial in the Alamo Memorial Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday, 6:00-8:00P.M.
A native of Wheeler County where he lived most of his life, Mr. Purvis was the son of the late Elbert Billy and Mattie White Purvis. He was retired from Armstrong World Industries and had served in the National Guard.
Survivors include his son, Wade “Monnie” (Katherine) Purvis, Alamo; daughter, Tasha (Jason) McElhenney, Lizella; brothers and sisters, Billy Purvis, Tommy Purvis, Don Purvis and Martha Stovall, all of Alamo, Geneva Hulett and Fred Purvis, both of Macon, and Eva Knight of Dublin; and grandchildren, Maranda McElhenney and Tyler McElhenney, both of Lizella.
