Ricky Eugene Elton

Ricky Eugene Elton, a devoted father, grandfather, and accomplished field engineer, passed away on December 26, 2024, in Macon, GA, after a short illness. He was born on January 15, 1947, in Hazlehurst, GA. Ricky led a life characterized by his professional achievements and his deep commitment to family and creativity.

Ricky enjoyed a rewarding career as a Field Engineer, retiring from Unisys Corporation, previously known as Burroughs Corporation. His expertise in technology and problem-solving left a lasting impact on those who worked with him.

Beyond his professional life, Ricky had a passion for woodworking, skillfully crafting furniture and various decorative items that his loved ones cherished. His time spent on the Stewart Farm in the Jordan Community of Wheeler County during his formative years inspired a love for craftsmanship and a close connection to the land. Ricky also attended Sardis Baptist Church, where he found community and fellowship.

Ricky is survived by his loving children: Gregory Eugene Elton and wife Kay, Thomas Christopher Elton and wife Amy, Alicia Mae Mitchell and husband Chris, and Stacy Renee Elton. He took great joy in being a grandfather to his grandsons, Boris Sandy Elton and David Josiah Mitchell. He is also survived by his sister, Winifred Thigpen, along with several nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.

Ricky was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Janie Elizabeth Jeffries Elton, and his parents, Elzie Eugene Elton and Beulah Rae O'Quinn Elton. His legacy will continue through those he leaves behind, and he will be deeply missed by family and friends alike.

A graveside service will be held in his honor on December 30, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Telfair Memorial Gardens with Rev. Chris Mitchell officiating. Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate Ricky's life and the love he brought into the world.
