Rev. Johnny Lawrence Taylor, 62, of Eastman, died Saturday, January 7. Funeral services will be held at 4:00P.M., Tuesday, January 10, at Community Church of God, Helena, with burial in the Harrelson Cemetery. Visitation is Monday, 6:00-8:00P.M.
A native of Valdosta, Rev. Taylor was the son of Cathryn King Lozano and the late Lawrence R. Taylor. He had worked with Cook and Company and Amercord for several years. A member of Freedom Worship Center, Rev. Taylor also attended Community Church of God. He was a licensed and ordained Bishop with the Church of God, and had retired as minister of Cornerstone Church of God.
Survivors include his wife, Wanda Taylor of Eastman; mother, Cathryn Lozano of Eastman; children, Karen (Jerry) Tipton of Athens, Kimberly Smith of Hazlehurst, Johnny “Jay” Taylor, Jr. of San Antonio, TX, Nathan (Amy R.) Taylor of Tifton, Amy L. Taylor and Laura (John) Faulk, both of Eastman; sisters and brother, Kathy Mullins of Eastman, Shelia (Mike) Settles of Warner Robins, Debra (David) Johnson of Farmers, KY and Charles Ball, Jr. of Eastman. Ten grandsons, nine granddaughters, two great-grandsons and a great-granddaughter also survive.
