Paul Towns, 72, of McRae, died Friday, August 7. Funeral services will be held at 2:00P.M., Monday, August 10, at Community Church of God, Helena, with burial in Harrelson Family Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday, 6:00-8:00P.M. at Vaughn Funeral Home, McRae.
A native and lifelong resident of McRae, Mr. Towns was the son of the late Guy C. and Christine Briley Towns and was married to the late Ruby Horne Towns. A US Army veteran, he was retired from the State of Georgia Prison System. Mr. Towns was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amanda Towns and a sister, Guynell Kennedy.
Survivors include his children, Paul Allen (Susan) Towns and Nancy Jo Harris, both of McRae; brothers and sisters, Jean (Ralph) Horne, Helena, Eloise (Jack) Yawn, Rhine, Wyoma (Gene) Johns, Warner Robins, Daniel (Pam) Towns, Hazlehurst, David Towns, Chauncey and Wyleen (Stuart) Haskins, Eatonton; grandchildren, Kayla Harris, Jerry Allen Harris, Brian Towns, Heather Towns and Cole Towns; close friends, Fred Draper, Gloria Oliver, Jerry and Wanda Harris, Lisa and Jerry Mullaly and several nieces and nephews.
