Nelson Carlos Powell

Nelson Carlos Powell, 80, of Lumber City, died Friday, June 19.  A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00A.M., Monday, June 22, at Dodge's Chapel Church Cemetery.  Visitation is Sunday, 4:00-6:00P.M. at Vaughn Funeral Home.

A native and lifelong resident of Lumber City, Mr. Powell was the son of the late Roy E. and Alma Renfroe Powell, and was married to the late Emily Sandiford Powell. A retired supervisor with Amercord and a lifelong farmer, he was an avid outdoorsman with a love for hunting and fishing.  Mr. Powell was a member of Dodge's Chapel and was preceded in death by his son, Tony Powell and a brother, Larry Powell.

Survivors include his children, Timothy Powell of Lumber City, and Alicia (Jamey) Grimes of Helena; daughter-in-law, Brenda Powell of Hazelhurst; brother and sisters, Gilbert Powell and Judy Hooks, both of Lumber City and Edna Noah of Knoxville, TN; grandchildren, Kristi (Matthew) Rowell, Dusty A. (Angel) Powell, Stephanie M. (William) Causey, Jobie Powell, Tisey Powell and Lindsey Grimes; and great-grandchildren, Tye Rentz, Annie Waters, Mattison Rowell, Teaghan Powell, Abel Causey, Alyssa Powell and Harley Powell.
