Mary Powell Meadows Nelson, 83, of McRae, died Saturday, June 18. Funeral services will be at 2:00P.M., Tuesday, June 21, at McRae Presbyterian Church, with burial at 11:00A.M., Wednesday, June 22, in the Summerville Cemetery, Summerville, GA. Visitation is 6:00-8:00P.M., Monday, at Vaughn Funeral Home.
A native of Berryton, Mrs. Nelson was the daughter of the late Julius Olney Meadows, Sr. and Mary Margaret Powell Meadows. A member of the McRae Presbyterian Church and a graduate of Georgia State College for Women, she was a retired teacher and a member of the South Carolina Huguenots Society.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, William Ritter Nelson, Sr., McRae; son, William Ritter (Janda) Nelson, Jr., Statesboro; daughters, Margaret Nelson (Robert) MacGregor, Marietta and Ann Nelson Curtis, Vidalia; brother and sister, Julius Olney (JerriAnne) Meadows, Jr., Berryton and Margaret Meadows Thrasher, Decatur; and grandchildren, Catherine MacGregor, Mary MacGregor, Leslie Curtis, Bennett Curtis, Carrie Curtis, William Ritter Nelson, III, and Brannen Nelson.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to McRae Presbyterian Church, 70 College St., McRae, GA 31055.
