Janet (Ashley) Evans

Janet Ashley Evans, 87, of McRae, died Saturday, November 2, following an extended illness.  A funeral service will be held at 2:00P.M., Monday, November 4, at McRae Presbyterian Church followed by burial at Oak Grove Cemetery.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

A native of Scotland, Ms. Evans had lived most of her life in McRae.  She was the daughter of the late Harvey E. and Ora Estelle Baughcum Ashley.  Retired after 43 years in various positions at The Merchants and Citizens Bank, Ms. Evans was a member of McRae Presbyterian Church.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Weston "Peck" Evans, a brother, Eddie Ashley and a grandson, Joshua Thomas.

Survivors include her daughters, Kim (Andy) Fowler and Kathy Thomas of McRae, and Brenda Farlow of Alexandria, AL; grandchildren, Christopher (Ashlen) Fowler, Michael (Samantha) Fowler, Jordan Thomas, Evan Farlow, Eric Farlow, Erin Farlow; and great-grandchildren, Jase Thomas, Andrew Fowler, Weston Fowler and Charlotte Fowler.
