James Lonnie Towns, 71, of Helena, died Saturday, February 6, following a brief illness. A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00P.M., Tuesday, February 9, at Midway United Methodist Church Cemetery, Milan.
A native and lifelong resident of Telfair County, Mr. Towns was the son of the late James Arthur Towns and the late Mary Lou Ward Towns. He was formerly employed with Roydon Wear, retired from Roadway Express, and was the owner of Get It And Go, a favorite local eatery. He later began making deliveries for C.J.'s Flowers and Gifts and Ryals' Drugs. Mr. Towns was a U.S. Army veteran.
Survivors include his daughter, Jeanie (James) Spires of McRae; sister, Carol (Larry) Johnson of Fitzgerald; grandchildren, Blayne (Alex) Spires and Kori Spires; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and niece, Tracey Vickers.
