James E. Thomas

James E. Thomas, 84, of Tryon, NC, died Sunday, November 21.  Funeral services will be at 11:00A.M., Wednesday, November 24, at Rockwell Baptist Church, Milan, with burial in the church cemetery.  Visitation is Tuesday, 6:00-8:00P.M.
A native of Telfair County, Mr. Thomas was the son of the late Virgil Lee and Lula Mae Yawn Thomas.  He was retired as a Master Sergeant with the U.S. Air Force, was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gray and was a Mason, having served as Secretary of the Sincerity Lodge of Gray for several years as well as Past Master.  Mr. Thomas was also retired from Continental Telephone Company as the local Manager.  He was preceded in death by a brother, V.L. Thomas.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Myrtis Lowery Thomas, Tryon, NC; daughter, Debbie (John) Rogers, Tryon, NC; brothers, Robert Thomas, Fayetteville, NC, Henry Grady Thomas, Tamarac, FL, Harry Thomas, McRae, and Earl Thomas, Eastman; and grandchildren, Aaron Thomas Edwards and Rachel Edwards, both of Tryon, NC.
