Emily Wilda (Sandiford) Powell

Emily Wilda Powell, 78, of Lumber City, died Tuesday, August 13, following a lengthy illness.  A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00A.M., Saturday, August 17, at Dodges Chapel Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00P.M., Friday at Vaughn Funeral Home, McRae.

A native and lifelong resident of Lumber City, Mrs. Powell was the daughter of the late Homer and Bessie Strickland Sandiford.  A homemaker, she was a member of Fishing Creek Baptist Church and attended Dodges Chapel United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Nelson C. Powell of Lumber City; children, Tony N. (Brenda) Powell of Hazlehurst, Timothy Powell of Lumber City, and Alicia (Jamey) Grimes of Helena; brother and sister, Waymon Sandiford of Leesburg and Christine Joyce of Lumber City; grandchildren, Kristi (Matthew) Rowell, Dusty A. (Angel) Powell, Stephanie M. (William) Causey, Jobie Powell, Tisey Powell and Lindsey Grimes; and great-grandchildren, Tye Rentz, Annie Waters, Mattison Rowell, Teaghan Powell, Abel Causey, Alyssa Powell and Harley Powell.
