Dorothy Eunice Calhoun Harris

Dorothy Eunice Calhoun Harris, 102, died Friday, August 9.  A funeral service will be held at 2:00P.M., Tuesday, August 13, at McRae Methodist Church with burial at Pitts Cemetery, Pitts, GA.  Visitation is Monday, 6:00-8:00P.M., at Vaughn Funeral Home.

A native of Statesboro, Mrs. Harris was the daughter of the late Benjamin Jarrell Calhoun and the late Eunice Neville Calhoun.  She was a member of McRae Methodist Church and was very active in Lynonia Garden Club.  Mrs. Harris was a beloved teacher at Telfair County Schools for many years and was instrumental in getting the Oak Tree Project implemented with the assistance of Mayor Johnny Bradfield.  She was preceded in death by her husband, D Quillian "D.Q." Harris, Jr.

Survivors include her children, Dr. D Quillian "Duke" (Jennifer) Harris, III of Moultrie, Calhoun (Theresa) Harris of Jacksonville, FL, Dorothy Harris Hightower of Roswell and Dr. Lester (Renee) Harris of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Jere Harris (Gregg) Metcalf, Neville Harris, R. Quillian Hightower, Candace Hightower (Patrick) Grundy, John Garland (Darby) Hightower, Maggie Harris (Max) Tuggle and Lainey Harris; and five great-grandchildren.  Several nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
