Doris Carol Selph Collins, a cherished member of her community and a dedicated family matriarch, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, in Eastman, GA. Born on October 22, 1950, in Telfair County, Doris made an indelible mark during her lifetime as a skilled court reporter and a loving companion to her family.
Doris graduated from Telfair County High School, embarking on a career that underscored her strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. Her profession as a court reporter for many years was not just a job but a vocation where her attention to detail and professionalism shone through. Those who worked alongside her remember her as a kind-hearted individual whose loving nature extended beyond her immediate responsibilities.
A member of Milan Baptist Church, Doris was deeply involved in her community and fostered relationships that were pivotal to her and those around her. Her personality was characterized by strength, love, and kindness, qualities that endeared her to family, friends, and acquaintances alike.
Doris was the proud mother of three children: John Willis (Lisa) of Byron, Saralyn Collins (Chuck White) of Macon, and David Collins, III (Amber) of Lexington, SC. Her legacy continues through her grandchildren, who include Joshua Willis, Christina Mullis, Alex Spires (Blayne), Dylan Floyd (Hunter), Kalob Willis, Carolina Ivy Collins, and Samuel David Collins, IV. Doris also relished her role as a great-grandmother to Kinley Willis, Jaxson Dawson, Emmersyn Mullis, Eazy Willis, and Kaizleigh Willis. Their lives reflect the values she imparted and the love she shared. Also surviving are sisters-in-law, Beverly Selph, Debbie Selph and Diane Selph; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Doris is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Henry Selph and Carolyn Moore Selph; her beloved husband, Samuel David Collins, Jr.; her grandson, Joseph Willis; and her brothers, Wayne Selph, Don Selph, and Randall Selph. Their memory remains an integral part of her family's story, cherished by those who knew and loved them.
The community will gather to honor Doris's life at Milan Baptist Church. A visitation is scheduled for Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service celebrating her remarkable life at 12:00 PM, concluding with a committal service at Siloam Baptist Church Cemetery.
Doris Carol Selph Collins will be remembered not just for her professional contributions, but more importantly for the love she cultivated within her family. She leaves behind a rich legacy that resonates with all who were fortunate to know her.
