Curtis Glen "C.J." Purvis, Jr., 32, of Helena, died suddenly on Thursday, August 15.  A funeral service will be held at 11:00A.M., Thursday, August 22, at McRae Church of God with burial at Erick Cemetery.  Visitation is Wednesday, 6:00-8:00P.M. at Vaughn Funeral Home.

A native of Wheeler County where he lived most of his life, Mr. Purvis was a logger with WDP Timber, LLC and attended McRae Church of God.

Survivors include his parents, Curtis and Beverly Purvis of Alamo; grandparents, Mary Sue Purvis Guin of Alamo and Frances P. Stephens of Hawkinsville; son, Justin Purvis of Helena; sisters, Gwendolyn C. Purvis of McRae and Courtney Purvis (Bobby) Conrad of Glenwood; nieces and nephews, Danielle Purvis, Gladys Lin Walls, Bobby Ray Conrad, Jr., Ryan Taylor, Jr., Jesse Glen Conrad, Raymond Floyd Conrad and Alexandria Isabelle Taylor; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
