Lucile Hulett Carnes, 99, of Milan, died Friday, October 26. A funeral service will be held at 3:00P.M., Sunday, October 28, in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home, McRae, with burial at Hulett Cemetery. Visitation will begin an hour prior to the service.
A native and lifelong resident of Telfair County, Ms. Carnes was the daughter of the late Luther H. and Rebecca Selph Hulett and was the wife of the late Rev. Baird L. Carnes. She was the oldest member of The United Pentecostal Church of Milan, and was a homemaker.
Ms. Carnes was a woman of integrity. She treated everyone with dignity and respect. She loved her church. Her bank account would say, “She always paid her tithes and gave generously to the kingdom of God.”
Her Bible would say, “She slap wore me out!” Her home would say, “I heard her pray every day and she made me a holy place.”
Now that her voice has ceased to speak, her words will echo in the hearts of Henry and Inez. Now that her prayers have ceased to be breathed, they will still fan the flames in the souls of those she loved. Since her fingers have stiffened and are folded in eternal stillness, her life will still touch those she leaves behind. She is gone. But she is here.
She is survived by her loving and caring son and daughter, Henry and Inez Carnes of Milan and several nieces and nephews. Special friends and neighbors, Allen, Debbie and Tammy Morris and Z.T. and Sandi Padgett also survive
