Embry Harrell

Embry Harrell, 81, passed away at his residence Tuesday, February 6.  A memorial service will be held at 2:00P.M., Friday, February 9, in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home, McRae.  The Harrell family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

He was born at home in Jacksonville, GA, to parents, Joseph Harrell and Kathleen Wells Harrell, who preceded him in death, along with his brothers, Jimmy Harrell and Billy Harrell, and his first wife, Sandra Dowdy Harrell of Rhine.  Embry grew up farming on Harrell Hill and developed a passion for insurance, where he found his calling.  He owned and operated Harrell Insurance Agency in McRae, GA since 1971.

He was a man who could carry on a conversation with anyone, whether you could understand him or not.  Embry found fellowship with many in his years spent as a Mason.  An avid enthusiast of airplanes, he found great joy flying through the skies until he discovered the thrill of a Harley-Davidson.  His fondest memories were of time spent in the air or on his street glide.  To know him was to love him.  Embry took pride in being able to help people and undoubtedly left a lasting impression on all who encountered him.

He is survived by his sister, Linda Harrell, and his children, James “Mickey” Harrell of Cochran, Jody Harrell of Milan, and Joey (Selena) Harrell of McRae; grandchildren, Joni Harrell Graham of Eastman, Cassidy Harrell of Milan, Jacob Harrell and Caleb Harrell, both of McRae; and great-grandchildren, Madison Graham and Mason Graham, both of Eastman.
