George Carl “Runt” Strom, 96, of McRae, died Thursday, January 21, following a recent illness.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00A.M., Saturday, January 23, in the chapel of Vaughn Funeral Home with burial at Bethlehem (Sandhill) Church Cemetery.  Visitation is Friday, 6:00-9:00P.M.

A native and lifelong resident of McRae, Mr. Strom was the son of the late Jim and Sally Bowen Strom.  He served in the US Army, was a former owner/operator of Standard Station in Milan, and farmed for much of his life.  Mr. Strom was preceded in death by a son, Danny (Lynn) Strom.

Survivors include his wife, Sadie Strom, McRae; daughters, Sue (Ricky) Harrelson, Jacksonville and Dianne Register, McRae; grandchildren, Daniel (Lucy) Harrelson, Sabrina (Bryan) Rentz, Danny (Marisa) Larkey, Kimberly (Brian) Poole and Stacey (Victoria) Register; and eight great-grandchildren.
